Active Directory

Service overview (by Jakob Hussfelt)
Usually I work with my customers within areas where the customers don't have nor need to have competence within the company. Typical areas are architecture and design towards Active Directory (AD). After finishing a case, the customer is able to maintain administration all alone.

Areas that are typically included in assignments for my customers:
  • Patch management: Testing and reliable automated deployment
  • Continuity planning including Disaster Recovery
  • Migration from legacy environment, e.g. Novell, Windows NT, AD
  • DNS: Design and configuration of namespace
  • DNS: Designing a redundant DNS service supporting AD and Internet
  • Physical design: Site and subnet configuration, replication
  • Logical design: Hierarchical OU design
  • Design: Adequate levels on physical and information security
  • Administrative delegation: Roles and access levels
  • Design, testing and implementation of Group Policy
  • Documentation, field notes provisioning and training pertaining to job performed
  • And more, e.g. DFS design, LDAP connections, printer management, client standardization, implementing Exchange Server etc.

My typical AD customers are large organizations, globally or regionally dispersed. Smaller companies (up to 75 users or devices) are many times better off using the less complex Windows Small Business Server rather than Active Directory.
